The 2015-16 US Auto Show season saw Honda unveil a new booth design featuring a panoramic 180º curved LED screen, floating above a central elevated platform. As part of the Public Day activations, Spinifex created the Deam Machine.
Two barrel-sized cannons were located on either side of the platform. Then, in a puff of smoke, the cannon shot personalised ‘dreams’ onto a 30-metre LED halo above: picture, animation, and effects. Using touch screens attached to the cannons, users selected a dream theme before taking a selfie. When the physical smoke ring hit the screen, it transformed into a digital cloud ring, displaying a giant version of the user’s selfie surrounded by their dream animation. Each user’s image then drifted away to become part of the cloud, celebrating Honda’s brand mantra: “Your dreams power our dreams”. Integration with RFID wristband technology and a mobile app enabled attendees to save their personalised images to their own devices for social sharing.
